Almost as if he were a precursor of hanging three-dimensionality, Cesare Catania immediately entrusted himself in his artistic production to the plasticity of matter to express his sensations and feelings in 2 dimensions. Initially he did this by creating traditional canvases caged with nails, natural ropes, plaster and acrylic. Over the years he has then developed his own technique with which he mixes silicone, acrylic and mineral pigments, thus managing to color his sculpture paintings directly in paste. This technique, called the “Catania Technique”, allows him to open his mind and merge the inspirational and creative processes together. In practice, the artist colors and shapes the material simultaneously, thus having the perception of being able to immortalize his emotions in a definitive and three-dimensional way, without therefore having to return to the worked material to give it color once the drying is finished.
