01
Description of the Artworks “The Embrace” (C and D Version)
This diptych elaborates the theme of the embrace in a material key. The chromatic similarities with the oil on canvas tapestry of the same name created in 2016 are clear. Starting from this last tapestry, the artist plays with the main colors which literally seem to melt and merge into two new works of art. The shapes and colors now become even more uncertain.
02
“The Melting of Colors”
Yellow and pink, the predominant colors of the B Version tapestry, float in space together with white and brown to create works of art that literally emerge from the canvas.
The cubism and informal art of the first two versions of the same painting (A Version 2015 and B Version 2016) now leave room first for a chromatic abstraction and then for a new artistic synthesis. All made with the usual technique developed by the artist who mixes silicone and acrylic.
With this diptych the author Cesare Catania, wants to graphically express first the dissolution of the colors of the first canvas of 2016, then the abstract reassembly of the same color palette on a canvas with silicone and mineral pigments. We therefore move from a cubist work to an abstract work, all without modifying the colors present in the 2016 canvas but simply playing with them. In this diptych abstraction gives vent to imagination and materiality.
